What is Locara?

Locara is a social platform that helps people connect through shared context. You join private and public circles based on where you live, what you care about, and who you already know. There are no algorithms, follower counts, or public feeds. Just real conversations in trusted circles.

Who can see my posts?

Only the members of the circle you post into. Every post stays inside the circle you choose. If you post in a private friend circle, only those friends can see it. If you post in a public interest circle, it will be visible to anyone in your postal code who joined that same topic. Nothing is visible outside the platform, and nothing is indexed publicly.

What kind of content can I share?

You can post text, links, images, and videos. Most people share updates, local questions, recommendations, or information related to a group or topic they care about.

How does the feed work?

Your feed is chronological. You see posts from your circles in the order they were shared. There are no suggested posts, trending tabs, or visibility boosts. You can sort or filter your feed for more control.

What are the different types of circles?

There are three. First degree private circles are for people you know directly, like friends, family, or coworkers. Private contextual circles are invite-only groups based on shared activity, like a parent group or neighborhood club. Public interest circles are open to anyone in your postal code who shares a topic of interest, like cycling, gardening, or gaming.

Is my location tracked?

No. You enter your postal code when you sign up. This is used to determine which local circles are available and which banner ad you see. Locara does not use your live location or track your movement.

What kind of ads will I see?

You will see one banner ad above your feeds. These ads are based only on the postal code you provided when you joined. We do not use behavioral data, browsing history, or personal profiles to target ads. Everyone in the same postal code sees the same ad. If you are traveling, your ads still reflect the original location you entered.

Does Locara sell or share my data?

No. We do not sell data or share it with ad networks. We do not use third party analytics tools, tracking pixels, or cross site cookies. Your data stays on the platform and is only used to support your experience.

What does Locara store about me?

We store your account credentials, your starting postal code, the circles you belong to, and the posts, comments, and likes you create. If you delete your account, all of that is deleted with it.

Can I leave a circle or turn off notifications?

Yes. You can leave any circle at any time. Notifications are off by default and can be turned on or managed per circle.

Can I use Locara without posting?

Yes. Many people use it to stay informed or connected without posting. You are free to browse your circles quietly.
